Wow. I marveled at this Carolyn Hax advice column, forwarded by my BFF Gwen. It really puts a point on the difference in perspective between parents and non-parents.

My observations:
  1. Both perspectives are valid.
  2. You cannot understand the joys and demands of parenthood until you are a parent.
  3. Parents aren't the only ones going through hard work and tough times.
  4. Hearing #2 when you are not a parent is annoying and feels insulting.
  5. It's hard to sympathize with #3 when you are covered in your child's bodily exports.

Must run...lots more "relaxing and enjoying" still to do...
